The ice wall isn't a border. It's a beat.

Why this tee

Fit: premium combed cotton, 210gsm mid-weight — drapes like a polar research-station crew tee, not a souvenir.

Print: chest-sized, expedition-poster aesthetic — built for the people who finished the official map and started asking what's underneath it.

Vibe: for Treaty readers, Highjump researchers, and anyone who's tried to charter a private flight south of 60° and found out exactly how restricted "restricted airspace" gets.

The lore

In 1946, the United States Navy launched Operation Highjump — Task Force 68, thirteen ships, twenty-three aircraft, more than 4,700 personnel. The stated mission was training and mapping. The actual mission, according to the surviving task force reports filed at the National Archives, was something the Navy never fully explained on the public record.

The expedition was scheduled for six months. It came home in eight weeks.

Thirteen years later, twelve nations signed the Antarctic Treaty of 1959. The continent was permanently demilitarized, claims to territory were frozen indefinitely, and the airspace above 60° south was placed under restrictions that — to this day — make Antarctica one of the most procedurally locked-down landmasses on Earth.

You can visit. You cannot freely explore. You cannot fly where you want. You cannot dig where you want. You cannot stay.

Beyond the Ice Expedition is for the people who read the treaty, read the task force records, and noticed the gap.

Sizing & styling

Slim fit through the body. If you prefer relaxed, size up one. The print sits chest-center, sized like a patch rather than a billboard — reads as intentional whether you're layered under a flannel, an open overshirt, or wearing it alone.

Fabric & care

100% compact yarn combed cotton (Heather Gray is 90% cotton / 10% viscose). Pre-shrunk, bio-polished for day-one softness. Ribbed cotton-poly collar, tear-away label. Machine wash cold on the reverse, neutral detergent. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not iron the print directly.
