The apparition was real. The question was only what generated it.

Why this tee

Fit: Wears the way a production crew tee does on day twelve of a shoot — slim through the body, mid-weight cotton that holds its shape without announcing itself.

Print: Chest-sized aerial projection design — rooflines, signal arcs, a luminous form above the skyline — rendered in museum-grade ink with the visual grammar of a technical brief.

Vibe: For Project Stargate file readers who made it past the declassified executive summary, patent-archive regulars who followed the BAE Systems atmospheric optics filings, and the exact kind of person who, upon seeing something in the sky, opens a browser before forming an opinion.

The lore

The Stargate Project's declassified files, released by the CIA in September 1995, include operational records of remote-viewing sessions conducted for the Defense Intelligence Agency. The sessions were real. The targets were real. The protocols were documented. In one portion of the archive, the research team at Stanford Research Institute recorded instances of subjects accurately describing distant physical locations — including interiors, coordinates, and material details — without any conventional means of access.

The question the DIA's own final review posed was not whether the effect existed. It was whether the effect could be directed.

Direction is the engineering problem. And the engineering of large-scale atmospheric optical effects has its own paper trail. The BAE Systems patent filed in 2016 — US10368061B2 — describes using pulsed high-power lasers to create temporary optical components directly in the open air: reflective surfaces, refractive elements, projection intermediaries. Not a screen. The air itself, selectively ionized, functioning as one.

The sky projection that concerns people is not the saucer. It is the structure that could put one there — the convergence of atmospheric physics, directed-energy optics, and an audience that was never told what they were looking at.

The files are still at Langley. The patent is still at the USPTO.

Primary source

The CIA's Stargate Project files — including SRI experimental records, DIA operational protocols, and the 1995 declassification assessment — are available in the CIA's Stargate Reading Room collection. The atmospheric projection patent underlying large-scale aerial display capability is documented as US10368061B2 on Google Patents.

Sizing & styling

Slim through the chest and waist — size up one for a relaxed fit. The dark-sky graphic on this tee works best worn clean against neutral denim, or layered under an unstructured jacket with the collar open.

Fabric & care

100% compact-yarn combed cotton, 210gsm mid-weight, pre-shrunk, bio-polished, single-needle stitched neckline, ribbed cotton-poly collar, tear-away label. Heather Gray is 90% combed cotton / 10% viscose. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low, do not iron the print.
