The lore

The glitch always happens mid-sentence. Something in the register of the voice. A flicker behind the eyes that the lighting rig cannot account for. Then the face — just for a frame, maybe two — does something a face should not be able to do.

The digital compression gets blamed. Motion artifact. A rendering error in the broadcast stream. The clip circulates for seventy-two hours, then the original file becomes difficult to locate.

What the tee depicts is that interval. The half-second between the constructed surface and whatever lies beneath it. Not a horror, exactly. More clinical than that. A mechanism in the middle of switching states — the way a server room sounds when it cycles through a reboot. Functional, automated, briefly audible.

The figure on the shirt is not panicking. It has done this before. The recovery will be seamless. The next sentence will complete itself. The room will decide, collectively, that it did not see what it saw.
